Middlebury becomes a pioneer settlement

1850
Middlebury becomes Hall's Corner

1857
First Post Office established with help from Judge Thomas Powell of Delaware

1857
Hall's Corner renamed Powell in honor of Judge Powell's assistance in establishing a post office
 

1876
Towns of Powell and Hyattsville are platted

1877
Columbus and Toledo Railroad begins service

1889
Martin-Perry House is built (later becomes Historical Society headquarters

1947
Powell is incorporated into a municipality

1948
Liberty Township establishes a volunteer fire department
