Memorial Day, Powell Cemetery
Earlier Memorial Day celebrations began with a ceremony to remember veterans at the Powell Cemetery on N. Liberty St. It preceded the community’s parade. This photo, circa1900, is from the Powell Liberty Historical Society’s post card collection. The first burial in the cemetery was Joseph Gardner in 1835.
