Community Pools in the 1900s
The Mt. Air Swimming Pool was the largest in Ohio when it opened in 1928. The land was sold to a developer in 1997, and condos are now present along the Olentangy River on Rt. 315, just north of Worthington Hills. Many Dublin, Powell and Buckeye Valley kids enjoyed the Shawnee Hills Swimming Pool, located on W. Reindeer Dr., from 1930-1970. "I think all of us grew up at the pool during the summer," wrote a Powell resident who was a lifeguard there in the early 1960s.
