Hyatts - A Town Created for the Railroad

Henry Hyatt was a late 19th century entrepreneur who founded the town of Hyattsville, now Hyatts, to meet the needs of the railroad. Hyattsville was a typical small town of the time with a railroad depot, school, church and stores but it also had ponds and a water tower to meet the specific needs of steam engines. The school, depot and the water tower are gone, but the trains still run and the ponds that supplied the water have a new use as a key feature of the Swan Lake event center.
