Anne and Tillie on the Dam
Anna & "Tillie" were daughters of Herman and Katherine Mulzer. This type of dam was called a Timber Crib dam. It was approximately five feet wide and reinforced by wooden timbers. It diverted the water towards the mills so that the water wheels or turbines could be turned generating power for the grist mill and sawmill operations. Waterpower only worked when weather conditions permitted until gasoline engines powered the operation permitting year round power.
